Que mon silence portera à son plus petit doigt (j’ai ravalé révolte, goûte)
pour percussionniste solo

dédié à celles/ceux qui se sont levés pour un monde plus humain,
du Caire à Santiago du Chili,
en passant par Montréal
ainsi qu’à Krystina Marcoux, percussionniste

présenté à Stuttgart, Allemagne, le 23.04.13 par la Staatsgalerie Stuttgart dans le cadre du festival « What’s happening »

Note de programme:

Nudité comme révolte. Le corps d’un être humain, non comme marchandise ou objet, mais comme projection d’un « ça va faire! »;

comme lieu dont le caractère sacré n’appartient qu’à soi;
comme espace de tension entre le regardant et le regardé, l’occupant et l’occupé.

Le corps d’un(e) musicien(ne), exposé/dévoilé dans le cadre d’une performance.

Point de départ : l’activiste égyptienne Alia Magda Ehmahdy, nue contre les salafistes1.
Point de départ : le printemps arabe prolongé dans le pays d’origine de mon père.
Point de départ : un compositeur métis québécois/copte agnostique face à un(e) musicien(ne) dont le corps en mouvement dans le temps et l’espace sonore créera du sens.

Le projet : une performance d’une quinzaine de minutes, trente tout au plus, impliquant une percussionniste.

Fil conducteur : mise en mouvement d’un corps de musicien mettant au monde un univers poétique centré sur la tension du sonore et du visuel.

Program note:

That my silence will bear at its smallest finger (I have swallowed revolt, taste)
for solo percussionist

dedicated to those who raised for a more humane world,
from Cairo to Santiago de Chile,
passing by Montréal
as well as to Krystina Marcoux, percussionist

Nudity as revolt. The body of a human being, not as merchandise or object, but as a projection of a « That’s enough! »;
as a place from which the sacred character belongs only to oneself;
as a place of tension between the one looking and the one looked, the occupying and the occupied.

The body of a musician, exposed/unveiled in a performance.

Point of departure: Egyptian activist Alia Magda Ehmahdy, naked against the salafists. Point of departure: the Arabic spring extended to the country of origin of my father.
Point of departure: a mixed-bread composer Quebecois/Coptic agnostic in front of a musician’s body which movements in time and space create meaning.

The project: a fifteen minutes performance, maximum thirty, involving a percussionist.
